Purpose

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and dedicated therapist in Pleasant Grove, Utah, I specialize in guiding individuals through the healing process of various mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues.

My expertise lies in trauma therapy for teens, young adults, and parents, helping them overcome challenges such as childhood, family, and religious traumas, with a welcoming approach to the LGBTQIA+ community.

Driven by a passion for empowering clients, my therapeutic approach focuses on  promoting self-determination, developing deeper insights, enhancing emotional intelligence, improving communication skills, and addressing symptoms of trauma effectively.

My goal is simple: to help you level up to YOU version 2.0 - the person you want to be, allowing you the freedom to define your path to healing and growth.

Philosophy & Approach

I believe everyone is the expert of their own life (even if it doesn't always feel that way), and that treatment is a collaborative process that is most effective when guided by what the person wants, not just what the therapist thinks is best.

I am here to learn about what is going on in your life, your strengths, the challenges you face, your goals and values, with the aim to work WITH you as a teammate to figure out what might be needed to reach those goals you want to achieve.

Using EMDR, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, solutions-focused, and strengths-based methods, I engage my clients as a trauma therapist with a personable, warm, non-judgmental, and trauma-informed approach.

My experience utilizing video games and VR as tools of intervention in therapy allow me to assist clients achieve the change they are looking for in an engaging way. For those who are wanting to work through and move past trauma, I am ready to meet you where you're at and help guide you forward to where you want to be in life.

Insurance & Rates

Covering therapy costs is a key part of committing to the process. You can either self-pay or use insurance, with pros and cons for each.

Insurance can lower costs initially, and often limit who you can see for therapy, making it difficult to find someone who feels like “a good fit.” Insurance companies also requires a diagnosis for "medical necessity," which can affect eligibility for certain insurances, and may also involve third-party oversight—insurance companies typically appoint case managers who may request updates from your therapist, a level of involvement many clients find intrusive.

Self-pay comes out of your pocket and while you may be able to seek reimbursement from your insurance, it often requires additional paperwork and time. However, many clients prefer this route as they can avoid diagnostic requirements, safeguard privacy, maintain control over their treatment, deduct the medical expense on taxes, and because it’s easier to find a therapist they feels like the right fit for them.

Whether you self-pay or use insurance, I’ll gladly help you navigate the process and provide any necessary paperwork. I accept most out-of-network insurances and can provide a superbill to assist with claims. My current fee is $165 per session, including the initial consultation. I don’t have a sliding scale option, but feel free to reach out with any questions you may have or, if needed, I can try to assist with finding other resources.

For those seeking out-of-network therapy, I have partnered with Mentaya to help clients use their out-of-network benefits to save money on therapy. Use this tool below to see if you qualify for reimbursement for my services!

I was so excited when I met Dan and learned about his method of using a virtual reality headset for EMDR. I find it much more convenient and easier to stay focused and do the EMDR work. It seems like my therapy has picked up the pace and I’ve seen faster progress since starting this.
